As The Ash Begins To Settle

Bodies litter the floor,
Some scrabble
about. Palms sore,
Knee’s bashing the cobbles.
Blood gurgling,
Shiver, wobble.
One lone figure, striding,
Louder, the people are fearful.
Figure, awesome power.
Screaming, children tearful.
Tall, he towers,
Over the innocents,
As the ash begins to settle.
