Picture It & Write

Again the people over at Ermilia’s blog have posted another Picture It & Write article. For those who don’t know what this is, they post a picture and then write a brief story about the image. They then ask for you to join in, your can either carry on their story or write your own. You can also do poetry and even something in another language (providing there is a translation posted along with it). I encourage everyone to give it a go because it helps get the “creative juices” flowing. My entry is below the image.

“I said get the camera out of my face,” the forest screamed around him, the leaves rustling so loud, deafening.

“Jeez, I’m just having some fun,” Evan said bringing the camera down to his side, but not switching it off.

“Just shut it off man.” Jamie’s vision was going blurry, Evan swam in and out of focus.

“All right, all right.” He didn’t. “What’s up with you, you feeling okay?”

“The trees! They’re so loud!”

“What are you talking about?” Evan asked clueless.

“I…something’s…” Suddenly a pain tore through Jamie’s chest, his back arching, his head snapping back. Arms, like that of a puppet, stretched out to the full span. Suddenly Jamie moved into the air, hovering above where he just stood.

“Jamie. Jamie! What’s going on, what the hell is happening.”

Suddenly Jamie started to speak, but it was no language that Evan had ever heard. The voice was none Evan had heard before either, certainly not Jamie’s. Evan took a step back and tripped, his camera rolling off to the side.

Jamie’s head came forward, and looked directly at Evan. His eyes, blue before, where as black as night, a wicked smile grew on his face. The corners of his mouth stretching upwards more than humanly possible.

“What’s the matter Evan,” said the new voice, “is someone scared?”

With a flash of light, Jamie disappeared. Evan blinked slowly, confused and terrified. Suddenly, there was a flash of light behind him, and an immense heat brushed over him. Evan instinctively flinched and began to turn but as he did hands gripped his neck and with inhuman strength Jamie snapped Evan’s neck, his body slumping to the ground.

Jamie chuckled deeply.

Jamie’s hand snapped forward and the camera slowly moved up and through the air, towards him. It landed softly in Jamie’s hand, a glow engulfed the camera, and then it vanished.

Suddenly Jamie dropped the ground, limbs becoming his own again. Jamie remembered everything, even the feel of Evan’s neck in his hand.

His little brother, lay motionless and lifeless a few feet away.

“You’re mine now Puppet.”
